BIO
From California to Texas to New England, New Jersey native son Dean Harlem has in true troubadour fashion made America his home. Deep-rooted in Americana and classic country sounds, Dean's percussive guitar style and powerful voice were forged by over a decade of touring and gigging in bars across the United States. His musical style is often compared to the alt-country of Steve Earle and the rootsy Americana of Bruce Springsteen.
His latest album (slated for release on June 12th) explores the history and themes of the American Civil War. Simply titled “Civil War,” the new record is a musically and thematically well-rounded, deep dive into the greatest event of the 19th Century. With stand out songs like “The Irish Brigade” which honors the Irish soldiers that fought for the union and “Springfield 1841” where the narrator is an old musket, this album is steeped in history and rich in storytelling.
