BIO

From California to Texas to New England, New Jersey native son Dean Harlem has in true troubadour fashion made America his home.  Deep-rooted in Americana and classic country sounds, with a picking style that blends Townes Van Zandt and Justin Townes Earle, and with an honest, soulful voice, Harlem has distinguished himself as a young singer-songwriter to watch, with what the press calls a “long, storied career” ahead of him.  His debut album, “Asbury Park”, pays homage to his New Jersey origins, even as it points into new songways and highways he’s heading into.  Currently, he makes his home in Nashville and is working on a new album

Press

"Armed with a good pair of leather boots, some dusty old jeans, and an acoustic guitar, Dean Harlem embodies Americana music. Like the songwriter himself, Dean's latest EP Asbury Park covers good ground and takes us far across the road-worn American landscape."

-Folk New Hampshire

"...a voice that’ll get right at your core....If the songs are of any evidence here, it’s fair to say that there’s a long, storied career ahead of this young songwriter."

- Seacoast Online

"A musician's musician, an artist so embedded in his own personal pursuit for truth and purity in his songwriting, Dean Harlem is able to masterfully craft a song filled with love and loss and wanderlust, all while honoring the task at hand to reveal himself to his listeners in an honest, recognizable and communal manner."

- Rob Azevedo, host of "Granite State of Mind" radio show.
